The Mastretta car brand was a Mexican automotive company best remembered for the MXT, a lightweight two-seat sports coupe designed and manufactured in Mexico. Founded by industrial designer Daniel Mastretta, the company previously developed kit cars, buses, and specialized vehicle bodies before launching MXT production in 2011. The rear-mid-engine MXT used a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ford Duratec four-cylinder engine, a five-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive. Aluminum and carbon-fiber components helped keep weight low, giving the car responsive handling and strong acceleration without relying on a large engine. Production ended in 2014, but the MXT remains an important example of independent Mexican automotive engineering and a rare alternative to established European sports cars.
