Micro

Micro is a Sri Lankan car brand and vehicle assembler established to develop affordable transportation for the local market. Founded in 1995 by automotive engineer Dr. Lawrence Perera, the company introduced locally developed models such as the Micro Privilege before expanding into hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, vans, buses, and commercial vehicles. Micro Cars has also worked with international manufacturers, assembling and distributing vehicles through partnerships with overseas brands. Its products generally emphasize practical dimensions, accessible pricing, and equipment suited to Sri Lankan roads and operating conditions. Based in the Colombo area, Micro remains closely associated with Sri Lanka’s efforts to build a domestic automotive manufacturing and assembly industry.
