Pontiac
Pontiac was an American car brand that combined mainstream affordability with a strong performance image. Introduced by General Motors in 1926, Pontiac became closely associated with models such as the Bonneville, Firebird, GTO, Grand Prix, and Trans Am. During the 1960s, the GTO helped define the muscle car era, while later vehicles ranged from family sedans and compact cars to sporty coupes and crossovers. Pontiac often used shared GM platforms and engines but distinguished its models through unique styling, firmer suspension tuning, and more aggressive branding. Declining sales and General Motors’ restructuring led to the brand’s closure in 2010. Today, classic Pontiac cars remain popular with collectors, particularly high-performance GTO, Firebird, and Trans Am models.
