The 2017–2020 Land Rover Discovery TD6 marks the fifth-generation Discovery (L462), pairing the new aluminum-intensive platform with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel. The engine produces 254 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, working through an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. Its five-door body and seven-seat configuration retain the Discovery's practical identity, while the newer architecture brought greater refinement and improved road manners.
The TD6 is particularly well suited to drivers who want strong diesel performance without moving to the more powerful petrol variants. Its 119-mph top speed and 8.9-second 0–60 mph time give the large SUV respectable pace, while 443 lb-ft of torque provides the muscle needed for towing and demanding terrain.
