The Vector W8 TwinTurbo was an ambitious American attempt to challenge the world's most exotic supercars through aerospace-inspired construction and extraordinary power. Its carbon-fibre and Kevlar body sits over an aluminium honeycomb monocoque, while the transversely mounted rear-mid-engine layout gives the coupe an unusual mechanical arrangement. Twin intercooled Garrett turbochargers, a dry-sump lubrication system and a three-speed automatic transmission reflect its racing-engineering influences. The result is a rare, technically distinctive supercar built around a bold performance concept.
Produced from 1989–1993, the W8 uses a 6.0-litre Rodeck V8 listed at 600 hp and 600 lb·ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels, with a claimed 3.9-second 0–60 mph time and a 218 mph top speed. Its low, wedge-shaped body and two-seat cockpit make it one of the most memorable American supercars of its period.
