The RUF CTR 2 builds on the Porsche 911's familiar rear-engine layout, transforming it into a high-performance coupé through extensive engineering and twin-turbocharged power. Developed by German manufacturer RUF, it combines the classic 911 silhouette with a wider stance and performance-focused bodywork designed to accommodate its enhanced capabilities. Its understated appearance conceals serious speed, while the rear-mounted flat-six and manual transmission preserve a direct, mechanically engaging driving experience. Rather than relying on dramatic styling, the CTR 2 expresses its character through engineering, traction and the ability to deliver supercar performance in a road-going package.
Produced from 1996 to 1997, the CTR 2 uses a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six petrol engine producing 513 hp and 505 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheels, while MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension support its handling. With a reported 0–60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph, it delivers exceptional performance for its era. Its combination of turbocharged power, rear-engine balance and driver-focused engineering defines its place among RUF's most notable sports cars.
