The Isdera Commendatore 112i was conceived as a statement of what a tiny German manufacturer could achieve when conventional supercar rules were ignored. Its extremely low body, rear-mid-engine layout and distinctive aerodynamic details gave it a presence unlike the established European exotics of the early 1990s. Beneath that dramatic shape sat Mercedes-Benz engineering, but Isdera wrapped the proven hardware in a far more exclusive package. With production limited to an exceptionally small number, the Commendatore became less a conventional showroom supercar and more a rolling expression of Isdera’s independent engineering philosophy.
The 1993 Commendatore 112i uses a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 producing 404 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, allowing 0–60 mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph. The rear-mid-engine configuration keeps the V12 positioned behind the cabin, reinforcing the car’s purpose-built supercar character.
