The AC Ace revived a famous British sports car name with a modern roadster designed around traditional proportions and contemporary engineering. Its long bonnet, rounded front styling and compact two-seat cabin give it a distinctive appearance, while an aluminium body and stainless-steel chassis provide the foundation for its construction. The front-mounted engine and rear-wheel-drive layout preserve a conventional sports car character, complemented by double-wishbone suspension at both ends. Rather than pursuing aggressive styling, the Ace combines understated British design with the mechanical character of a powerful V8 roadster.
Produced during 1994–2001, this version is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.9-litre Ford V8 producing 256 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 320 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. Buyers could choose between a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmission. Its claimed 0–62 mph acceleration time of 6.1 seconds reflects the performance potential of its V8 powertrain, while the 3,175-pound kerb weight gives the roadster a substantial yet balanced road presence.
