The Trooper 3.5 V6 represents the more refined side of Isuzu’s traditional SUV formula. While its boxy shape and body-on-frame character clearly point to its off-road roots, the larger petrol V6 gave this generation a stronger road-going personality. Its simple, upright design prioritized space and durability rather than fashion, while the longitudinal engine layout and rear-wheel-drive configuration kept the mechanical package straightforward. That combination made the Trooper feel like a substantial utility vehicle that could also handle everyday family and highway duties without abandoning its rugged foundations.
For 2000–2003, the Trooper 3.5 V6 uses a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 producing 212 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission is available alongside a five-speed manual, with rear-wheel drive sending power to the rear axle. The SUV reaches 112 mph and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 10.9 seconds, giving the larger Trooper a useful balance between utility and everyday performance.
