The Mazda Tribute 2.0 4WD brought compact SUV practicality to Mazda’s early-2000s lineup, combining a relatively compact footprint with five-door versatility and part-time four-wheel drive. Its upright body provided useful passenger and cargo space, while the front-mounted transverse engine kept the mechanical package straightforward. With five seats and genuine four-wheel-drive capability, the Tribute was designed as a practical everyday SUV that could also handle less demanding off-road conditions.
The 2001–2004 Mazda Tribute 2.0 4WD uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four producing 122 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends power through the four-wheel-drive system, with 0–60 mph taking 13.3 seconds and 0–62 mph taking 13.7 seconds. Top speed reaches 103 mph, while its 3,307-pound towing capacity adds useful versatility to its compact SUV character.
