The Mazda Tribute 3.0 V6 4WD gave Mazda’s early compact SUV a stronger performance character while retaining the practical five-door, five-seat format. Its upright body provided useful passenger and cargo space, while the front-mounted transverse V6 and four-wheel-drive system gave it a versatile mechanical layout for everyday driving and less demanding off-road conditions. With its combination of SUV practicality and six-cylinder power, the Tribute offered a more capable alternative to conventional passenger cars of the period.
The 2001–2004 Mazda Tribute 3.0 V6 4WD uses a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 producing 194 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power through the four-wheel-drive system, with 0–60 mph taking 11.4 seconds and 0–62 mph taking 11.8 seconds. Top speed reaches 118 mph, while its 3,748-pound towing capacity adds useful versatility to its compact SUV character.
