The SEAT Altea Freetrack 4x4 gives the compact MPV an adventurous edge, with raised ride height, protective body cladding and all-wheel drive suited to journeys beyond smooth urban roads. Its shape retains the useful cabin and five-seat practicality of the Altea XL, but the Freetrack adds a tougher stance and the ability to distribute drive to the rear wheels when traction demands it. Rather than being a conventional off-roader, it is a family-oriented crossover built to combine everyday usability with extra confidence on rougher or slippery surfaces.
In the 2007–2010 model range, the 1,984 cc turbocharged petrol engine produces 197 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox works with the all-wheel-drive system, while torque peaks at 1,800 rpm for responsive acceleration through the mid-range. With a 133 mph top speed and a 7.3-second 0–60 mph time, the Freetrack blends brisk road performance with five-seat versatility and useful cargo capacity.
