The Suzuki Ignis 1.5 4 Grip is the more traction-focused member of the second-generation range, pairing the familiar compact MPV body with a four-wheel-drive system. Its five-door layout accommodates five occupants, while the raised body and practical cabin make it useful for everyday family journeys. What distinguishes this version is not a dramatic change in appearance, but the extra drivetrain capability beneath it. The 4 Grip badge identifies a model intended to maintain composure on less predictable surfaces, adding a different kind of versatility to the Ignis without turning it into a large or cumbersome off-roader.
Its 1.5-litre M15A engine uses variable valve timing and produces 98 hp, with 98 lb·ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. A five-speed manual gearbox sends power to all four wheels, giving the car a more involved driving character than a typical small family hatchback. The 4 Grip was offered from 2004–2006 with MacPherson-strut front suspension and a three-link rigid rear arrangement. That combination of a modest petrol engine, compact dimensions and four-wheel traction defines its particular place in the Ignis line-up.
