The facelifted Suzuki Ignis keeps its distinctive upright shape while adding a more refined mild-hybrid powertrain and the convenience of a continuously variable transmission. Its compact exterior makes it easy to manoeuvre in town, but the tall cabin and sliding rear-seat arrangement give the small four-seat interior useful flexibility. With the rear seats in place, luggage capacity is modest; folding them opens up considerably more room for larger items. The CVT version is particularly suited to stop-start urban driving, where smooth, uninterrupted acceleration can make daily journeys less demanding.
Under the bonnet, the 1,197 cc K12D Dualjet engine produces 82 hp and 79 lb·ft of torque at 2,800 rpm. Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid system recovers energy during deceleration and uses electric assistance to support the petrol engine during acceleration. The CVT replaces the five-speed manual offered in other versions, while front-wheel drive keeps the mechanical layout simple. Introduced in 2020, this combination gives the Ignis an emphasis on efficiency and easy-going drivability rather than outright speed.
