The second-generation Suzuki Ignis 1.3 is a compact family car with a practical emphasis rather than a sporty one. Its five-door body makes the rear seats easier to reach, while the upright roofline helps provide useful headroom in a car that remains easy to place in tight urban spaces. Five seats and a split-folding rear bench give it flexibility for passengers or everyday shopping, with the luggage area expanding when the rear seats are folded. The design is uncomplicated, but that simplicity is central to the Ignis’s appeal as an economical and versatile small MPV.
Its 1.3-litre M13A engine delivers 93 hp and 87 lb·ft of torque, providing a useful step up from the earlier-generation 1.3-litre Ignis. The naturally aspirated four-cylinder is paired with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, driving the front wheels. A MacPherson-strut front suspension and compact 92.9-inch wheelbase suit its lightweight, city-friendly character. In the 2004–2006 range, this version offered a straightforward petrol powertrain and practical five-door packaging without the added complexity of four-wheel drive.
