MSRP:$12,000 – $14,000
Unlike the front-wheel-drive Ignis, this five-door 1.3 4WD adds traction for drivers who regularly encounter slippery roads or loose surfaces, while retaining the compact proportions of Suzuki’s first-generation small MPV. Its taller body and five-seat cabin make it more versatile than a conventional small hatchback, and the rear seats provide a modest but useful luggage area that can be expanded when needed. The extra driven wheels bring added capability, although they also contribute to a higher vehicle weight than the two-wheel-drive version.
The familiar 1.3-litre M13A four-cylinder engine produces 82 hp and 81 lb·ft of torque, with power channelled through either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox. The all-wheel-drive layout gives this Ignis a different purpose from its FWD sibling, prioritising traction over outright performance. Produced from 2001–2004, it pairs MacPherson-strut front suspension with a compact 92.9-inch wheelbase, making it a practical choice for drivers who want small-car manoeuvrability with added drivetrain capability.
