The third-generation Suzuki Ignis brings a distinctive, upright design to the small-car class, combining compact exterior dimensions with the raised stance of a city-focused crossover. Its short overhangs and tall cabin make it easy to manoeuvre in crowded streets, while the sliding rear-seat arrangement allows the four-seat interior to adapt between passenger room and luggage space. With the rear bench in its normal position, the boot is modest; sliding or folding the seats makes the cabin more versatile. The result is a small car that makes clever use of its limited footprint rather than relying on size.
Suzuki’s 1.2-litre K12C Dualjet engine produces 89 hp and 89 lb·ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Its dual-injection arrangement is designed to improve combustion efficiency, while the naturally aspirated four-cylinder keeps the powertrain mechanically straightforward. A five-speed manual gearbox sends power to the front wheels in this version, giving it a simple, lightweight setup. Introduced in 2017, the Ignis combines this engine with MacPherson-strut front suspension and a torsion-beam rear axle, balancing everyday efficiency with the elevated driving position of a compact crossover.
