The QX30 2.2d took Infiniti into a particularly interesting corner of the premium compact-SUV market, combining dramatic styling with a diesel engine better suited to economical long-distance driving. Its sculpted body and elevated stance gave it a sporty presence, but underneath that design was a powertrain built around torque and efficiency rather than high-revving performance. The result was a compact luxury crossover with a distinctly different personality from the petrol QX30, especially for drivers covering substantial distances.
For 2016–2019, the QX30 2.2d uses a bi-turbo 2.1-liter inline-four diesel producing 168 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, while peak torque arrives at just 1,400 rpm. Its 8.2-second 0–60 mph time gives the diesel enough pace for a premium crossover, while the strong low-end torque suits relaxed highway driving.
