The Daihatsu Terios 1.3 was a compact SUV that emphasized traction and straightforward engineering rather than speed. Its naturally aspirated 1.3-litre four-cylinder produces 86 PS and 120 Nm, with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission working with four-wheel drive. That combination gives the small Terios a more capable character than its modest dimensions suggest, while its simple petrol engine keeps the overall mechanical package relatively uncomplicated.
For 2003–2006, the Terios 1.3 remained focused on practical everyday versatility. Its five-door body accommodates five occupants, while 205 litres of luggage space provides useful room behind the rear seats. With a 145 km/h top speed and 16.1-second 0–100 km/h time, performance is clearly secondary to usability and traction. The compact footprint, raised SUV stance and permanent AWD system make this version particularly interesting among small SUVs of its era.
