2008–2010 Ascari KZ1 -R Specs & Performance

The Ascari KZ1-R took the already extreme KZ1 and reshaped it around a much more uncompromising racing philosophy. For 2008–2010, Ascari transformed its road-going supercar into a track-focused machine, retaining the 4.9-liter naturally aspirated BMW S62 V8 but increasing output to 520 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sent power to the rear wheels, while the stripped-down construction, carbon-fiber chassis and aggressive aerodynamic treatment gave the KZ1-R a distinctly competition-bred character. Its 200 mph top speed and 3.1-second 0–62 mph acceleration reflected the level of performance packed into this lightweight package.

The KZ1-R's identity was defined by what Ascari removed as much as what it added. Carbon-fiber bodywork, a reduced interior and racing-focused equipment helped keep weight around 1,350 kg, while double-wishbone suspension, forged 19-inch wheels and large ventilated brakes were engineered for sustained track use. Wider rear tires and dedicated aerodynamic elements further separated it from the road car. With production limited to roughly 50 examples, the KZ1-R became an exceptionally rare interpretation of Ascari's supercar philosophy—less about luxury and more about extracting maximum performance from a compact, rear-mid-engine platform.
