The 2006–2009 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 brought a significant performance upgrade to Lamborghini’s flagship V12 supercar. Its sharper bodywork and low-slung proportions retained the dramatic character of the Murciélago, while the larger V12 and rear-mid-engine layout gave the LP 640 a stronger performance focus. The two-seat coupe also retained Lamborghini’s all-wheel-drive system, combining increased V12 output with the traction needed to exploit its performance.
The 2006–2009 Murciélago LP 640 uses a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 producing 631 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed transmission sends power to all four wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 3.3 seconds and top speed reaching 211 mph. Its combination of V12 power, all-wheel drive and rear-mid-engine layout gave the LP 640 a strong performance foundation within Lamborghini’s flagship range.
