2013–2017 Alpina X3 XD3 Bi-Turbo Specs & Performance

The 2013–2017 ALPINA X3 XD3 Bi-Turbo was a significant model for ALPINA: it was the company's first SUV and an unexpectedly serious performance interpretation of the BMW X3. Rather than using a large petrol engine, ALPINA built its first SUV around a high-output 3.0-liter straight-six diesel, giving the XD3 an unusual combination of effortless torque and rapid acceleration.

The twin-turbo diesel develops 350 PS and 700 Nm, with that substantial torque available from just 1,500 rpm. An eight-speed Switch-Tronic automatic and all-wheel drive put the power down, helping the XD3 reach 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and 253 km/h at the top end. ALPINA also reworked the suspension and fitted its own exhaust and wheel-and-tyre package, giving the X3 a much more purposeful character without sacrificing its everyday SUV usability. As the first ALPINA SUV, the XD3 Bi-Turbo holds a particularly important place in the company's history.
