The Grand Tourneo Connect gave Ford a way to combine the practicality of a compact van with the flexibility expected from a family vehicle. The 2013–2015 Grand Tourneo Connect 1.6 EcoBoost takes that concept in a petrol-powered direction, pairing its tall five-door body with seating for up to seven and a cargo area that can expand dramatically when passenger space is no longer the priority. Its long-wheelbase proportions make it especially suited to families who regularly alternate between people and equipment.
Unlike the diesel versions, this model uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine producing 148 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. The six-speed automatic transmission gives it a more relaxed character in traffic, while 29.4 mpg combined reflects the trade-off for choosing the more powerful petrol engine. A 109 mph top speed and 10.7-second 0–60 mph time make it noticeably livelier than the lower-output diesels, but its real strength remains the ability to combine useful performance with substantial interior flexibility.
