The McLaren 620R was created as a road-legal expression of the company's racing expertise, giving the Sports Series a much more uncompromising personality. Developed with the 570S GT4 race car in mind, it stands apart through its fixed rear wing, aggressive aerodynamic treatment, lightweight focus, and circuit-oriented attitude. The result is a machine that looks and feels closer to a competition car while retaining the essentials needed for road use. Its compact dimensions and rear-mid-engine layout reinforce the sharp, purposeful character that made the 620R one of the most distinctive models in McLaren's Sports Series lineup.
For 2020–2021, the 620R uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 611 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. A 7-speed transmission sends power to the rear wheels, allowing the two-seat coupe to reach 200 mph. Its 2.8-second 0–60 mph acceleration gives the 620R serious pace, while its 3,056-pound curb weight supports the lightweight, track-focused philosophy behind the car.
