2024–2026 BYD Seal U DM-i Design Specs & Performance

The Seal U DM-i Design approaches electrified driving from a different angle, using a plug-in hybrid system to combine a turbocharged petrol engine with electric propulsion. Its 1.5-liter four-cylinder works alongside two electric motors, producing a combined 238 hp and 406 lb-ft. A 0–60 mph time of 7.3 seconds and 105 mph top speed give the SUV adequate pace, while the 18.3 kWh battery allows meaningful electric-only driving before the petrol engine becomes part of the journey.

The 2024–2026 Design version uses front-wheel drive, a continuously variable transmission and MacPherson strut front suspension with multi-link hardware at the rear. Five seats and up to 61.2 ft³ of luggage space make the electrified powertrain useful beyond urban commuting, while its 4,145-pound curb weight reflects the additional hardware of a plug-in hybrid. The result is a family SUV built around flexibility: electric driving for shorter trips and a combustion engine for longer journeys.
