Few cars package traditional sports-car engineering into such a small footprint as the Suzuki Cappuccino. Its removable roof can be configured as a hardtop, T-bar, targa or fully open arrangement, giving this two-seat roadster several distinct personalities. An aluminium bonnet and other lightweight body components help keep its weight down, while the front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout creates the proportions and mechanical balance of a miniature sports car. It was designed around driver involvement rather than passenger capacity or luggage space.
The Cappuccino's 657 cc F6A engine uses an intercooler and turbocharger to produce 63 hp, with 63 lb·ft of torque available at 4,000 rpm. Its five-speed manual gearbox and exceptionally low 1,543 lb curb weight contribute to an engaging driving experience. Produced from 1991–1995, this early version also features four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, an unusually sophisticated arrangement for such a compact roadster.
