The Renault Vel Satis offered an unconventional take on executive motoring, combining distinctive styling with the practicality of a spacious five-door hatchback. Its tall proportions, generous cabin and comfort-focused design set it apart from traditional European saloons. Rather than following familiar luxury-car styling, Renault emphasized individuality, passenger comfort and everyday versatility, giving the Vel Satis a distinctive presence in the executive segment.
Produced from 2002 to 2006, the Renault Vel Satis 3.0 dCi 177 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel engine producing 175 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels, delivering 0–60 mph acceleration in 10.2 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph. AutoSpecsHub lists combined fuel economy at 27.1 mpg and luggage capacity of 16.2–51.8 cubic feet. Its strong diesel torque and spacious hatchback layout make it well suited to comfortable cruising and practical everyday travel.
