The Peugeot 1007 approaches small-car practicality with a distinctive design that separates it from conventional hatchbacks. Its compact proportions, upright body and innovative sliding doors were developed to make access easier in tight parking spaces, giving the car a strong urban focus. Inside, the five-seat cabin and flexible luggage area make efficient use of its modest footprint, while the unusual door arrangement adds convenience to everyday journeys. Rather than prioritising sporty performance or luxury, the 1007 concentrates on accessibility, functional packaging and a distinctive alternative to traditional city cars.
Produced from 2004 to 2005, the 1007 75 uses a naturally aspirated 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 74 hp and 89 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the front wheels through a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, depending on configuration. MacPherson strut front suspension and trailing-arm rear suspension support its everyday driving character. With a 0–62 mph time of 14.8 seconds and a top speed of 104 mph, it delivers modest performance suited to routine commuting. Its sliding-door concept and practical interior layout remain central to its identity.
