The Peugeot 1007 brings an unconventional approach to small-car practicality, combining compact proportions with a distinctive body shape and sliding doors that set it apart from conventional hatchbacks. Designed with urban convenience in mind, its sliding-door arrangement makes access easier in confined parking spaces, while the upright cabin helps make efficient use of the car’s modest footprint. Seating for five and a flexible luggage area add everyday versatility, giving the 1007 a functional character rather than a performance-focused identity. Its unusual design reflects Peugeot’s effort to rethink how a small city car could accommodate passengers and luggage.
Produced from 2004 to 2005, the 1007 HDi 70 uses a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 67 hp and 111 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox sends power to the front wheels, while MacPherson strut front suspension and trailing-arm rear suspension support predictable everyday handling. With a reported 0–62 mph time of 16.7 seconds and a top speed of 99 mph, it prioritises practical motoring and diesel efficiency over outright acceleration. Its distinctive sliding doors and compact dimensions remain central to its appeal.
