The Proton Satria Neo 1.3 introduced a fresh design to Proton’s compact hatchback range, replacing the earlier Satria with a more contemporary shape and a newly developed platform. Its three-door body, distinctive headlamp design, and compact proportions gave it a sportier appearance, while front-wheel drive kept the layout practical for everyday use. Developed with attention to chassis balance, the Satria Neo offered a modern alternative to basic city hatchbacks, combining manageable dimensions with a functional cabin and a rear hatch suited to daily errands. The 1.3-litre version served as the accessible entry point to the range, prioritising straightforward motoring over high performance.
For the 2006–2008 range, power came from a naturally aspirated 1.3-litre, 16-valve DOHC inline-four producing 94 hp at 6,000 rpm and 89 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. A five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission sent power to the front wheels. With a top speed of 112 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 11.7 seconds, the Satria Neo 1.3 offered modest performance suited to routine driving. Its three-door body, five-seat cabin, and 8.5–37.9 cubic feet of luggage capacity gave it practical flexibility, while the MacPherson-strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension supported its balanced compact-car layout.
