2004–2007 BMW 1 Series 116i Specs & Performance

Built as a compact entry point to BMW’s 1 Series range, the 116i used a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter inline-four gasoline engine producing 113 hp and 111 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel-drive hatchback paired that engine with a five-speed automatic transmission and reached 124 mph, with a 10.5-second 0–60 mph time. Its modest output was balanced by rear-wheel-drive handling and an efficient 31 mpg combined fuel economy suited to everyday driving.

The 2004–2007 BMW 116i featured a practical three-door compact hatchback layout with seating for five and 11.7–40.6 ft³ of luggage space. MacPherson struts at the front, multi-link rear suspension, vented front discs and solid rear discs provided a straightforward chassis setup, while its 2,822-pound curb weight kept the car relatively light. A 13.2-gallon fuel tank and up to 409 miles of range further supported its role as an economical and practical compact BMW.
