The Smart Forfour BRABUS combines the practicality of a small five-door hatchback with the performance of a turbocharged petrol engine. Its compact dimensions suit urban driving, while the four-seat cabin and luggage capacity of 9.5 to 32.1 cubic feet provide flexibility for passengers and everyday cargo. Unlike later electric Smart models, this BRABUS version uses a conventional front-mounted engine and front-wheel drive. Its performance-oriented specification includes a five-speed manual gearbox and staggered front and rear tyre sizes, giving the compact hatchback a distinctive sporting configuration.
For the 2005–2006 model range, the Smart Forfour BRABUS uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four gasoline engine with double overhead camshafts, 16 valves, and multi-point fuel injection. AutoSpecsHub lists maximum power at 175 hp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 96 lb-ft at 3,500 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels. The suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, while ventilated disc brakes are fitted at both ends. Listed performance figures include a top speed of 137 mph and 0–60 mph acceleration in 6.7 seconds. Combined fuel economy is rated at 34.6 mpg, with a listed range of 429 miles.
