The Smart Forfour BRABUS gives the compact four-seat hatchback a more performance-focused character while retaining the everyday practicality of its five-door layout. Its short body suits crowded urban streets and tight parking spaces, while the flexible luggage compartment provides room for shopping and daily essentials. A rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel-drive configuration distinguish it from many small hatchbacks, giving the Forfour a distinctive mechanical layout. The BRABUS version combines this unusual arrangement with turbocharged power and an automatic transmission, creating a sportier take on Smart’s compact city car without losing its practical dimensions.
For the 2016–2019 model range, the Forfour BRABUS uses a turbocharged 0.9-litre inline-three petrol engine with double overhead camshafts, 12 valves, and multi-point fuel injection. It produces 108 hp at 5,750 rpm and 125 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. AutoSpecsHub lists acceleration from 0–60 mph in 10.2 seconds and combined fuel economy of 51.1 mpg, with a stated range of 472 miles. The chassis combines MacPherson strut front suspension with a De Dion rear axle, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. Seating for four and luggage capacity of 6.5 to 34.4 cubic feet preserve its everyday usefulness.
