2007–2011 BMW 1 Series 116i Specs & Performance

Designed as a compact entry point to BMW’s 1 Series range, the 116i used a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter inline-four gasoline engine producing 120 hp and 118 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel-drive hatchback was available with six-speed manual or automatic transmissions and reached 127 mph, with a 9.8-second 0–60 mph time. Its modest output was balanced by rear-wheel-drive handling and a claimed 40.6 mpg combined economy, making it suited to everyday driving.

The 2007–2011 BMW 116i retained the 1 Series’ compact three-door hatchback layout, offering five seats and 11.7–40.6 ft³ of luggage space. MacPherson struts at the front, multi-link rear suspension, vented front discs and solid rear discs provided a straightforward chassis setup. At 2,932 pounds, it remained relatively light for a compact BMW, while the 14-gallon fuel tank supported a listed range of up to 567 miles.
