The Priora 2172 gave Lada’s compact family car a different kind of usefulness. Instead of the traditional three-box sedan shape, the five-door hatchback brought a larger rear opening and a more flexible body while retaining the familiar Priora design underneath. For 2009–2014, it served as one of the more practical versions of the range, combining everyday dimensions with a simple mechanical package that was easy to understand and maintain. The result was a hatchback built around function rather than fashion, reflecting the priorities of Lada’s mainstream buyers.
At the center of the 2172 is a 1.6-liter 16-valve naturally aspirated four-cylinder developing 97 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox sends that output to the front wheels, giving the hatchback a conventional driving layout and 0–62 mph performance of 11.5 seconds. With its naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission, the 2172 keeps the driving experience uncomplicated while offering the extra versatility expected from a five-door body.
