Not every Tourneo Connect was intended to maximize carrying capacity. The 2013–2015 Ford Tourneo Connect 1.6 TDCi 75 takes the more compact route, combining a relatively short wheelbase with a tall body and a configurable cabin. Its 36.3–85.1 cubic feet of luggage space gives it plenty of flexibility for a vehicle of its size, while the five-door layout makes it practical for passengers as well as cargo. This balance makes the Connect feel more like an adaptable everyday tool than a conventional family car.
The 1.6-liter TDCi diesel is tuned for economy, producing 74 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 rpm. With a five-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels, it is clearly designed for steady rather than hurried progress. The 47 mpg combined figure is more representative of its mission than its 17.2-second 0–60 mph time, especially for owners covering regular urban or suburban journeys. Its useful payload and towing capability add further versatility, giving this modestly powered Connect a surprisingly broad range of everyday jobs.
