The facelifted Veloster 1.6 Turbo kept Hyundai’s compact coupe experiment distinctive, pairing its unusual three-door layout with a sharper performance focus. Its asymmetric body was never intended to follow the conventional sports-car formula, and the turbo model gave that individuality a more purposeful edge. With a low roof, short proportions, and a driver-oriented cabin, the Veloster found a middle ground between an everyday compact and an affordable performance car, making it one of Hyundai’s more unconventional sporty offerings of its era.
For 2015–2016, the Veloster 1.6 Turbo is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four producing 183 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the front wheels through either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission. Its 8.1-second 0–60 mph time gives the compact coupe enough pace to complement its distinctive styling without losing its practical four-seat character.
