Kia’s Stonic arrived as a small SUV for buyers who wanted the higher seating position and visual confidence of a crossover without moving into a much larger vehicle. The 1.0 T-GDI was central to that idea, pairing a compact three-cylinder engine with turbocharging to keep the Stonic lively without making the powertrain bulky. Its five-door layout and modest dimensions also kept the emphasis firmly on everyday usability, giving the newcomer an approachable character for city driving and weekend trips alike.
From 2017–2026, the Stonic 1.0 T-GDI uses a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder producing 118 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 10.0 seconds and top speed reaching 115 mph. The small turbo engine gives the compact SUV enough responsiveness while preserving the efficiency expected from a downsized petrol powertrain.
