The third-generation Tucson moved Hyundai’s compact SUV into a more refined and efficient direction, and the 1.7 CRDi Blue 2WD was clearly aimed at drivers who spent most of their time on paved roads. Its diesel engine emphasized economy and low-speed flexibility rather than strong acceleration, while front-wheel drive kept the mechanical package relatively simple. For 2015–2020, this version suited the everyday side of SUV ownership: useful space, familiar driving manners, and an economical powertrain without the added hardware of four-wheel drive.
The turbocharged 1.7-liter inline-four produces 114 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, with peak torque available from just 1,250 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels, and the Tucson reaches 109 mph. That low-revving torque delivery gives the compact SUV an easygoing character in normal traffic, while its efficient diesel setup makes longer journeys a natural part of its role.
