The 1.6 GDI Blue was the efficiency-focused side of the third-generation Tucson range, giving Hyundai’s compact SUV a naturally aspirated petrol engine and front-wheel-drive layout. Rather than emphasizing strong acceleration, this version was shaped around straightforward everyday use, with a clean five-door body, raised driving position, and a powertrain designed to keep the driving experience uncomplicated. Its appeal lies in that balance: a modern compact SUV that delivers useful practicality without the added complexity of a turbocharged engine or four-wheel-drive system.
For 2015–2020, the Tucson 1.6 GDI Blue 2WD uses a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter inline-four producing 130 hp and 119 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels, while peak power arrives at 6,300 rpm. With an 11.1-second 0–60 mph time, its performance is deliberately measured, making the engine’s smooth, conventional character more important than outright pace.
