The 2.0 CRDi Blue gave the third-generation Tucson a distinctly efficiency-minded personality, but it was not simply a stripped-back diesel option. With front-wheel drive and Hyundai’s Blue efficiency focus, this version was designed around the needs of drivers who wanted the space and raised seating position of a compact SUV without the additional hardware of an all-wheel-drive system. Its clean exterior and practical five-door layout made it easy to use every day, while the diesel engine supplied the kind of low-speed response that suited commuting and longer road trips.
For 2015–2020, the Tucson 2.0 CRDi Blue 2WD uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four producing 134 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels, with peak torque arriving at 1,500 rpm. Its 10.3-second 0–60 mph time is consistent with a powertrain tuned more toward relaxed, efficient travel than outright acceleration.
