Hyundai’s late facelift gave the Tucson an interesting blend of old-school diesel strength and newer electrification technology. The 2.0 CRDi 48 Volt paired a familiar turbo-diesel with a mild-hybrid electrical system, adding efficiency assistance without changing the vehicle into a full hybrid. Four-wheel drive also broadened its usefulness beyond ordinary urban commuting, making this version well suited to drivers who wanted a compact SUV capable of handling longer trips and less predictable surfaces while retaining conventional diesel character.
For 2020–2021, the Tucson 2.0 CRDi 48 Volt uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel with 182 hp and 295 lb-ft of combined torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, while 0–60 mph takes 9.2 seconds. The 48-volt mild-hybrid system adds an efficiency-focused layer to the powertrain without taking away the strong low-speed torque that defines this diesel Tucson.
