The RUF SCR represents an early chapter in the German manufacturer's performance-car heritage, combining classic rear-engine sports-car proportions with specialist engineering. Its understated coupé styling, wide stance and purposeful design retain the character of an analogue sports car from an era when driver involvement mattered more than electronic assistance. With its compact cabin and rear-wheel-drive layout, the SCR delivers a focused driving experience while preserving the familiar silhouette and everyday usability associated with classic European sports coupés.
Produced from 1978 to 1981, the RUF SCR uses a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre flat-six petrol engine producing 215 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. Mounted at the rear, the engine drives the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. It accelerates from 0–60 mph in 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 158 mph. With a listed curb weight of 2,447 pounds and a 2+2 seating configuration, the SCR combines strong performance for its era with the distinctive handling characteristics of a lightweight, rear-engine sports car.
