The Series 3 V12 Convertible gave Jaguar’s E-Type a more relaxed grand-touring character while preserving the dramatic proportions that had defined the model from the beginning. Its open two-seat cabin put the driver close to the road, but the smooth V12 transformed the experience into something more effortless than the earlier six-cylinder cars. The broader Series 3 body also reflected Jaguar’s move toward a more mature performance car, combining long-distance refinement with the unmistakable presence of an E-Type roadster.
The 1971–1975 V-12 Convertible uses a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V12 producing 314 hp and 349 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 6.8 seconds and top speed reaching 135 mph. Its two-seat roadster body, front-mounted V12 and independent suspension give it a distinctly grand-touring character.
