The Series 2 XK-E Roadster kept the open-air spirit of Jaguar’s original E-Type while introducing the detail changes that defined the second series. Its long bonnet, low nose and exposed two-seat cockpit remained instantly recognizable, but the revised design gave the roadster a slightly more mature character. The straight-six continued to provide the muscle, while Jaguar’s independent suspension helped preserve the balance between precise handling and high-speed touring that had become central to the E-Type’s identity.
The 1968–1971 XK-E Roadster Series 2 uses a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter inline-six producing 265 hp and 283 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 7.3 seconds and top speed reaching 150 mph. Its two-seat open body and independent rear suspension keep the roadster firmly rooted in the sporting side of the E-Type range.
