The Triumph TR 5 brought a significant performance upgrade to the British roadster range, combining familiar TR styling with a more powerful six-cylinder engine. Its long bonnet, broad front grille and compact two-seat body create a purposeful sporting appearance, while the open cockpit preserves the traditional appeal of British sports-car motoring. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout provides a conventional mechanical foundation, complemented by a semi-trailing-arm rear suspension that distinguishes its chassis configuration. Its combination of straightforward roadster proportions and fuel-injected power gives it a distinctive character within the Triumph TR range.
Produced from 1967–1968, the TR 5 uses a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-six gasoline engine with an OHV valvetrain and fuel injection. It produces 150 hp at 5,500 rpm and 164 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, paired with a four-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Its performance includes a 0–60 mph time of 8.5 seconds and a 119 mph top speed. With seating for two and 5.7 cubic feet of luggage capacity, it combines strong performance with the practical proportions of a classic roadster.
