MSRP:$40,000 – $55,000
The 1967–1970 Honda S 800 captures Honda’s early sports-car character in a remarkably lightweight two-seat roadster, powered by a front-mounted, longitudinal 0.8-liter naturally aspirated inline-four producing 69 hp at 8,000 rpm and 49 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. The AS800E engine uses DOHC, two valves per cylinder and carburetor fuel delivery, sending power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Weighing just 1,532 pounds, the S 800 reaches 60 mph in 15.5 seconds and has a listed 100 mph top speed.
Double-wishbone front and live-axle rear suspension are paired with solid front disc brakes, rear drum brakes and 145/80R13 H tyres. Measuring 131.3 × 55.1 × 47.8 inches, the two-seat roadster has a compact 78.7-inch wheelbase with 45.7-inch front and 45.3-inch rear tracks. Its 9.2-gallon fuel tank supports the listed 35.3 mpg combined economy and 326-mile total range, while the 28.9-foot turning radius and 9.2:1 compression ratio further define its compact mechanical package.
