The Jaguar E-Type Roadster arrived with a design so striking that it immediately became one of the defining sports cars of the 1960s. Its long bonnet, low nose and rear-set cabin were shaped around the car’s sporting proportions, while the independent suspension and disc brakes gave Jaguar a technical foundation to match the appearance. The open two-seat body also made the E-Type feel more dramatic from behind the wheel, turning its combination of elegant styling and serious performance into something distinctly different from a conventional grand tourer.
Introduced for 1961–1964, the E-Type Roadster uses a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter inline-six producing 265 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, allowing 0–60 mph in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. Its independent rear suspension and front-mid-engine layout complete a chassis designed for high-speed road driving.
