The Series 2 XK-E Coupe refined Jaguar’s celebrated E-Type formula without losing the visual character that made the car so recognizable. Subtle changes to the design brought a more mature appearance, while the fixed-head body retained the long bonnet and compact cockpit that defined the earlier car. Underneath, Jaguar’s proven straight-six and independent suspension continued to give the E-Type a strong sporting foundation. This version sits at an interesting point in the model’s history, preserving the original concept while moving the car toward a more developed grand-touring character.
The 1968–1971 XK-E Coupe Series 2 uses a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter inline-six producing 265 hp and 283 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 7.2 seconds and top speed reaching 150 mph. Its front-engine layout, two-seat cabin and independent rear suspension retain the focused mechanical character of the fixed-head E-Type.
