The Series 2 XK-E 2+2 gave Jaguar’s celebrated E-Type a more practical interpretation without losing the model’s unmistakable shape. Its extended roof and rear seats changed the proportions slightly, but the long bonnet and flowing body still carried the visual drama of the E-Type. Beneath the styling, Jaguar retained the familiar 4.2-liter straight-six and independent suspension, creating a car that could combine sporting ability with enough space for occasional passengers. It was a natural evolution of the E-Type as Jaguar moved the model toward broader grand-touring appeal.
For 1968–1971, the XK-E 2+2 Coupe Series 2 uses a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter inline-six producing 265 hp and 283 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual or three-speed automatic drives the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 7.3 seconds and top speed reaching 150 mph. Its 2+2 seating configuration and independent rear suspension make this version notably more versatile than the two-seat fixed-head coupe.
